God's Eyes, or 'Ojo De Dios', are yarn weaving's originated by the Huichol peoples of western central Mexico. Originally used as a spiritual and religious object in rituals, they are believed to be a kind of 'third eye' or a symbol of seeing and understanding the unknown. The cross shape of the God's eye is thought to represent the four elements of air, water, earth, and fire. Additionally, in Huichol tradition, when a child is born the father weaves the central eye and adds an additional eye until the child reaches the age of five.
