Freaky Friday Post- The Scariest Illustrator Ever!

♠ Posted by ArtMuse in at 5:46 PM

If you're anything like me, you grew up reading a few of the Scary Stories books and remember being more scared of the illustrations for the stories than by the stories themselves.  Actually, the illustrations were what made the stories so scary, really scary!

The illustrator behind the series is Stephen Gammell and although he didn't start our his career making spooktacularly terrifying mindscapes, otherwordly creatures, and a litany of creepy clowns, zombies, cats, witches, and scarecrows, his illustrations have always had a hauntingly recognizable style.

Below is just a sample of some of the less-scary pen and ink style creations he has come up with for the Scary Stories series.  Believe it or not, these aren't the scariest!
